Rehabilitation care is topic of discussion

The past, present and future of rehabilitation services in Lincolnshire is the subject of the next public forum to discuss and debate mental health issues.

Psychosocial Intervention (PSI) Forums are designed to give people the opportunity to profile mental health concerns and challenge stigma. The forums are based in the HUB Centre for Craft & Design in Sleaford and run in partnership with Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The next talk will be given by Ann Dodd, team leader for rehabilitation services at the Trust, who will give an overview of the service spanning the past 30 years.

Ann said: “In brief the presentation details the past by reflecting on care and treatment in the old large institution, locally known as Rauceby Hospital. An overview of current services forms the second part of the presentation and finally looking to the future and the planned developments between 2009 – 2012 to improve services available in the county.”

Cathy McNulty, specialist practice educator based with specialist services at the Trust, said: “The PSI forums are a bi-monthly event offering opportunity to hear inspiring speakers and participate in debate regarding mental health issues. The forum held in September was a great success with an excellent turnout and this month’s forum looks set to be a fascinating presentation which I hope will spark off some interesting discussions.”

The PSI Forum will take place on Thursday 19 November from 5pm – 7pm and service users, carers, volunteers and interested people are all encouraged to come along. Those wishing to attend are advised to call the HUB on 01529 308710 to reserve their place.
