This social model approach to disability, sees the problem as society’s barriers, rather than the person’s condition, allows disabled people to lift the blame from their shoulders and place it squarely onto society’s. The social model of disability empowers disabled people to challenge society to remove those barriers.
The Trust is committed to ensuring that the needs of disabled people are met and that our service are available to all members of our community who either have a disability or acquire a disability.
Our continued success as an organisation is in our ability to work in partnership with other organisations and community groups, to make decisions that affect the lives of everyone living in Lincolnshire.
What is the Trust doing?
We will build on the work already started within the Trust by ensuring that the action plan for the next three years is implemented and that Disability Equality remains high on our agenda. We will work hard to ensure that our workforce is representative of the community and that our employment practices allow equality of opportunity to anyone with a disability and that in no way would mean that they have less choice, less access, less opportunity or receive less respect in particular with regards their mental health services.
A number of public bodies, including the Trust, are subject to specific duties in addition to the general duty. The specific duties require the Trust publish a
Disability Equality Scheme and to report on progress annually. Please refer to the Trust’s
Single Equality Scheme for the Action Plan. Disability is covered in the Mandatory Equality and Diversity Training that the Trust provides for all its staff.
