The Trust is committed to reducing energy use and waste and is exploring how to source sustainable materials.
The Green Group is made up of a cross section of staff employed by Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation Trust with a representative from each department invited to attend. Also in attendance are representatives from external organisations to promote co-operation within Lincolnshire. The core representatives are taken from the departments below:
- Chairman (Project Director)
- Board
- Estates
- Support Services
- HR
- IT
- Communications
- Procurement
- Child and Family Services
External Representatives:
- United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust
- Lincolnshire NHS
- Service user rep
- County Council
The Green Group meets once a month and discusses how the trust can reduce its impact on the environment. Each member of the group will usually have a task assigned to them at the meeting which they will then report back on its progress at the next meeting. Current tasks under way include:
Energy Saving Week 19 - 25 October 2009
At work and at home let's stop wasting energy and cut our bills.
Supporting A Greener Environment
The Trust has committed to reducing the environmental impact of its activities and this is being implemented via the Green Group. It cannot do this without the co-operation of its staff and is therefore seeking volunteers to act as SAGEs
What is a SAGE?
They are volunteers with an interest in environmental issues that are willing to spend a little of their time assisting the Trust in reducing its environmental impact. Whilst having a commitment to environmental matters is essential, good communication skills, tact and diplomacy are equally important when trying to encourage good environmental practice.
What do they do?
They will assist in the planning and running of any environmental campaigns and provide feedback on the success of these campaigns. They will act as a local source of advice and assist in answering colleagues’ questions on environmental issues. They will carry out simple observation and survey work such as encouraging staff to turn off lights and PCs.
What commitment is required?
We do not wish to make this a second job, more a role that will slip into day to day duties. We therefore anticipate that the time commitment will be about 2.5 hours a month. Please ensure you have your line manager’s permission before you volunteer.
What support will be available?
- Information pack outlining the Trust’s objectives and commitment and answers to frequently asked questions
- Regular email newsletter specifically for SAGEs
- Point of contact for more complex requests for information/help
- A SAGE page on LPFT intranet including forum to share ideas with other SAGEs
- SAGE representation on Green Group (2 per meeting)
- Metal SAGE badge
- Annual convention for SAGEs to outline plans for the year ahead
