Low Secure Inpatient Services

The Francis Willis Unit (situated in the grounds of the County Hospital) is a 15-bedded low secure mental health unit catering for those individuals who require nursing interventions within a secure environment due to the levels of risk posed to themselves or others.

The unit provides assessment and treatment services for people aged between 18 - 65 with a primary diagnosis of mental illness.

The Francis Willis Unit has its own multi disciplinary team who tailor the care and treatment to the individual needs of the service user.  The current nursing compliment is approximately 30 staff, averaging a staff to patient ration of 2:1.

The unit prides itself on a robust Multi Disciplinary approach to managing risk as well as psycho educational activities and a social inclusion philosophy.

The unit benefits from having its own gymnasium, practice kitchen and craft room as well as the overall unit being bright and spacious.
